Congratulations!
After the sad and unexpected passing of Beverly Little Thunder, the Board of Civil Authority advertised her position of Justice of the Peace, which is considered a statewide position and is appointed by the governor if there is an vacancy. The BCA sent in Barrett Grimm’s name in January after receiving two letters of interest for the position, urging quick action as this is a three-election year. The appointment was made in mid-April and the letter was sent to Barrett a month later. Many of you will recognize Barrett from the polls on election day(s), where he usually sits at the Exit Checklist. Huntington has seven JPs, the number based on population. The terms run with the November election and JPs are elected alternate years. The positions will be up for election on November 3, 2026. The term begins on January 31, 2027.
